The Sons Of Anubis - Backstory

Welcome,
I have constructed my own chaos space marine legion, that fluff wise is portrayed as a fallen legion.
To expand further they were the second legion, that was expunged from the imperium's records during the time of the old night.
The homeworld of the legion was a barren place, and the populace of the planet were in constant turmoil. Then a leader emerged from the clan that lived upon the edges of the toxic swamps, and he marched out of the gaseous swamps with his army of the like none of the towns of the planet had seen, There had always been myths and old wives tales about a strange tribe who dwelled in the toxic wastes, who worshiped death itself.
So on the day that the endless tides of armoured knights strode out, the towns of the world saw this as judgment day approaching. And they were right to think this, the tides of Anubis's warrior kept marching. Nothing quelled their pace, and nothing halted the tide. The just keep marching, their blue wytch fires the only thing visible through the fog that seem to follow them where ever they went.
Once the planet had been purged and all offered up to the one truth in the universe, death, they set about turning the planet as a whole into a temple to honour Anubis.
Due to the amount of record lost during the old night, and the legions purging from the records much is not clear about Anubis himself. But many speak of him as a primarch, but one who lost his way.
When the emperor came into contact with the planet (the only name known for the planet now is 'The Old Kingdom'), he brought Anubis into the fold and brought his devout warrior followers into the legions fold.
It is said that the emperor and Anubis were known to have long debate about the universe and its truths, with Anubis never baking down from his ideology that there is only one constant and that is death, and with this death needs to be regarded above everything else and it respected as a way of life. The emperor always disagreed, and there was always friction between the creator and his creation, but the emperor always thought of this as purely debates and there was no more to it.
Over time the legions tactics were regarded as cruel and designed to wreak the maximum amount of death in the slowest way possible. The pinnacle of this was when Anubis released one of his experimental viruses, birthed from the immaterium, onto a planet. The plague caused the populace to slowly become crippled and weak, this occurred over decades, and then the legion would deploy and march over the planet destroying everything that stood in their path. But when the emperor sent emissaries to recall Anubis they got to the planet and no bodies were found, just the dark and heavy fog that followed him everywhere. When the emissaries caught up with the legion at the next planet in the system they witnessed what Anubis and his priests had been working on, and they witnessed the punishment that they wrought on the unsuspecting planet. Titan class drop pods were deployed to the surface, but they did not carry titans. Also the cargo doors blew open on these gargantuan pods, tides of corpses flowed out. But then the corpses started moving, and a wave of endless dead spilled forth and devoured the planet.
With this news the emissaries returned to the throne world to report their horrific findings, and as soon as this information was made aware to the emperor he departed straight for the system where Anubis was wreaking destruction.
When the emperor found the flagship he boarded with his custodes by force and sought out Anubis. What he found eventually lead to the sparks that created the old night and brought the universe into turmoil. He faced Anubis on the bridge of his flagship and the full force of the emperor personal legion of custodes was deployed to bring the legion to heel.
The emperor found that the death priests of Anubis's court had been delving into the forbidden arts of necromancy and as Anubis himself had put it, becoming one with death itself will allow you to conquer it. Even his legion had changed their helms to more resemble their primarchs canine like features, which made him so distinguishable.
The emperor could not comprehend the death and pain the Anubis had wrought unprovoked, and he destroyed him where he stood and banished his soul to the warp as punishment. The legion was slaughtered, but in the massive space battle that occurred the chapel barge that was the home of Anubis's priesthood escaped into the warp with a couple of companies of the legion on board.
From then on the legion and Anubis was purged from the vaults of records, and then old night took hold.
It was rumoured through out the old night that fringe worlds would cease communications with everyone, and when people went to investigate the whole planet was deserted, no bodies, but a heavy fog encompassing the whole planet.

So back to current day there have been sighting from the far edges of known imperium space of canine headed warriors in the fog, just their blue wych-fire shimmering. It would appear that they did become one with death, and Anubis is never dead as his sons march on endlessly and unwavering.
